- The LASER GAUGE laser displacement measurement device was designed to determine the integrity of pail lids after their placement upon the pail. It performs this function by projecting a laser beam across the top of the lid after it has been sealed. If the lid breaks the laser beam by an amount exceeding the preprogrammed threshold, the computer performs the tasks necessary to notify the operator to visually check, and if necessary, correct the problem. This prevents a pail without a good lid seal from continuing along in the process where it will increasingly cause problems.

- Version 2.0 of the LASER GAUGE is equipped with the external terminal and label scanner options. The remote terminal allows setup and operation without opening the box, and the label scanner uses an ultraviolet fluorescent sensor or barcode scanner to detect the presence of labels on the pails as they pass on the conveyor. It is also equipped with a remote, frame mounted terminal that allows operator input for setup and reset control, and maintains production statistics.

- The LASER GAUGE is applicable to any process requiring accurate height measurement on a moving conveyor. Some of these are:

Detecting loose or missing lids on 1 to 5 gallon pails.
Detecting loose or missing caps on bottles.
Detecting multiple and missed feeds.
Detecting open flaps on boxes.
Detecting missing labels.

Measuring product height, tube or fiber diameters.

- The laser transmitter and receiver are automatically adjusted up or down by the computer when changing product sizes. To change from a 2 gallon pail to a 5 gallon pail, you simply press setup, place a pail in the path of the beam and let the LASER GAUGE learn the height. The lasers will automatically be positioned at the correct position for the product size being run!
